Description
The Holy Bible, 1816 the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised With Marginal References
Great intact condition accept few pages loose
Referring to the year 1816 on photo 4, this date refers to the text first used by the American Bible Society which began in the year 1816. The publishers of this Bible only referenced the ABS text as the basis of their text. The typeset used and the type of boards is consistent with books published in the mid to late 1800s. Also the publisher, Payne, Holden & Co, only dates back to 1874. So it’s doubtful the Bible was printed in 1816. If you look at the handful of Bible publishers existing in 1816, which were located in NY and New England, no one was publishing Bibles with covers as ornate as this or with colored ink/art on the inside pages. There should be a date somewhere that is the actual year printed. Honest research. Thanks.
